Folding Joint

The joint between the vertical and horizontal members is designed to be very strong and also to be foldable for easy storage and transport.  The joint is reinforced with two plywood brackets which are glued and screwed to the vertical arm.  They are connected to the horizontal arm ONLY by the 16 penny spikes which serve as pins.  This allows the BeeWeigh to be separated into two pieces.

Reinforcement of the Joint

Holes are  drilled for two 16 penny spikes which fasten the two arms together. The positioning of  the two holes are shown in this drawing.

Location of third hole in brackets

Drilling a third hole in the connecting bracket, as shown here, will stengthen the connection between the vertical and horizontal arms of the BeeWeigh.  The exact placement of the hole is not critical.
